RestrictionsMandatory fishing licenses and king salmon tags must be purchased directly from your captain on the charter vessel on the day of your tour. All customers must bring $15 US in cash to purchase a fishing license and $15 US in cash to purchase a king salmon tag from the captain in order to participate. King salmon availability varies, from May 1st to July 1st. The purchase of the king stamp is a requirement if you are fishing for king salmon. If the king stamp is not required you will not have to get one (From July 2st to September 30th). Not having the King Stamp purchased before the fishing trip means you will not be able to keep a king salmon if caught. Please see the Alaska Department of Fish and Game website for current retention regulations for non-resident charter fishing. All guests ages 16 and older must have a license. Each child booked for this tour must be accompanied by at least one adult over 18 years old. The weight limit for this tour 350 lbs per person. Passengers must be able to get in and out of the vessel unassisted. With advance notice, collapsible wheelchairs may be taken aboard the vessel and motorized wheelchairs may be used to get to the boat; they can be stored inside the secure office and returned after the charter.

After meeting your representative on the pier, a short walk will take you to your waiting fishing boat, which holds no more than 6 guests. The fleet of boats used on this Ketchikan shore excursion range in size from 28' to 40' in length and have a very basic head.

Setting out from Ketchikan, your crew will get you set up with your fishing license as you head out to deep waters. Halibut are the largest of all the flatfishes. Some halibut exceed 400 pounds and are usually on or near the bottom at depths of 90 to 900 feet. Enjoy the hospitality of your experienced, Coast Guard-licensed captain, who will relish the opportunity to show you, your family and your friends the breathtaking beauty of Ketchikan from our "local viewpoint" - on the water.

Glimpses of our local mammals and birds, whales, seals, sea otter, porpoise, and sea lions - may also be on the excursion agenda so keep your eyes open.

All fishing gear, tackle and bait is included. You may choose to catch and release all day, or have your catch processed and shipped home for an additional fee.

Please Note: Boats available for this tour accommodate groups of up to 6 guests maximum. Please take this information into consideration when booking.

The current daily bag limit in the Ketchikan area is 1 halibut under or equal to 50 inches, or 1 halibut equal to over 72 inches per person per day. Any halibut over 50 inches up to 71 inches must be released. The current bag limit is subject to change and is regulated by the IPHC. Once all guests have caught a halibut, if time allows, the captain will reposition to a salmon fishing location. Outstanding experience

August 13, 2019

Our family of 4- inc 2 teenagers- did this excursion. Kevin was knowledgeable, fun!, kind, relaxed, and PATIENT! It was perfect to have just us on the boat. He clearly wanted us to have a successful and fun venture (we got all 4 halibut) .

Great fishing!! Great Captain!!

September 13, 2017

Our captain Dan was fantastic! Within 10 minutes of putting our rods in the water we started to catch fish... There were only 3 of us catching fish and we all got what we came for Halibut!! Dan was a great host. I would recommend getting your fishing license on line and calling to see if you will need King salmon tags, at the time of our excursion there was a moratorium on King Salmon.. this will save you time and money!! I would highly recommend this excursion

BEST TIME EVER

July 03, 2013

Captain Dan was very experienced and fun. This was the first fishing trip that my husband and I took together. It was very exciting to get a big fish. I think if you are going on a trip to Alaska you must go and fish with Captain Dan and experience it for yourself. This is a fun, exciting and relaxing trip.

We would book this excursion again!

June 26, 2013

We had a wonderful time on our halibut fishing excursion! It was a beautiful day out on the water and the scenery was fabulous! The captain and the other couple we fished with we're very pleasant and fun to be with! We caught rock fish, a ray and another type of flat fish, but no halibut. :( The captain gave us many opportunities in different locations, but fishing is fishing and there re no guarantees! Thank you for the experience!

We caught our limit of Halibut!

June 15, 2013

My brother Paul, his wife Wendy, and I caught our limit of three Halibut and had them processed and shipped home. Captain Dan is an experienced fishing guide and has a beautiful 35 foot fishing boat. This was the best fishing trip ever.

Small Shore Excursions generally range in size from 2-20 people, providing a more personalized experience than the large excursions offered by the cruise lines.

Standard Shore Excursions typically range from 20-50 people. These tours are similar in size to those of the cruise lines. While these day excursions are larger in size, our focus on quality remains extremely high.

Private Shore Excursions allow you to travel with your party alone. For groups of 4 or more, we can usually arrange a private shore excursion for less than the cost of a large cruise line tour.
